Engineer reviewing building plans outside a modern commercial building with solar panels and HVAC systems

Our Process

A clear path from eligibility to delivery.

Select who you are to see the incentives that may apply and how a NABiTax engagement works step by step.

Potential Incentives

Section 179D — Allocated Deduction

Designers, architects, engineers, and design-build entities may receive an allocated 179D deduction for the design of energy-efficient buildings owned by qualifying tax-exempt or governmental entities. Eligibility depends on the project, the tax year, and an allocation from the building owner.

How the engagement works

  1. 1

    Identify Projects

We review your project history to identify buildings owned by tax-exempt or governmental entities that may support a Section 179D allocation.

  2. 2

    Confirm Benefit to Entity

Before anything is signed, we confirm the deduction can actually be used by your firm. No entity should sign for a benefit it cannot use.

  3. 3

    Engagement with NABiTax

We formalize scope, timing, and deliverables so everyone knows what happens next and when.

  4. 4

    Allocation Letter Signature

We prepare the allocation letter for the building owner and coordinate signature with the authorized representative.

  5. 5

    Energy Study and Inspection

We perform the energy modeling and the required site inspection. A physical walkthrough of the building is required in this step.

  6. 6

    Delivery Package

You receive the full package: certification, supporting documentation, and a Form 7205 pro-forma ready for your tax preparer.

Audit hours included

Audit hours are offered with every NABiTax engagement. If a study is ever questioned, we stand behind the work we deliver.
